About The Trainer

Thomas Low

Thomas is a qualified Groomer Examiner and Trainer for the Universal Cat Association (UCA) cat grooming courses, in Singapore and overseas. He is also equipped with decades of experience in grooming different breeds of show cats for competing in international championship cat shows locally and internationally.

He is also currently a UCA cat judge, and he has been judging in the international cat shows in Singapore and overseas since 2012. Having been affiliated with the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) of USA since 2004, he was the also International Representative of the Association from 2014-2016. He was also a certified Master Clerk of CFA.

He is the Secretary of the Asia Pacific Cat Club (APCC). The club had organised numerous cat shows in various countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, and one of the recent cat show in Singapore was the SG50 Cat Show invited by Ministers in coincide with the opening of Nee Soon East Community Club opening ceremony by our very own Prime Minister during Singapore’s 50th birthday.

Thomas has also worked with the Peoples’ Association (PA) and National Trade Union Congress (NTUC) on several events in various community clubs, using APCC as the platform.

He is also the Secretary of The Pets Enterprises and Traders Association (Singapore) (PETAS).

Thomas has helped to set up many cats clubs in China during the early days when China started to have CFA shows and has helped to train the local CFA clerks for the shows.

He owns the Blue Crest Cattery. The cattery has attained excellent achievements in showing cats locally and in overseas countries in the International Region! His cattery has produced the most number of Grand Champion Cats in Singapore, and most importantly, they are the first cattery in Singapore that has achieved the Divisional Award (DW Award) and only cattery that has achieved the Distinguished Merit Award (DM) from CFA. His Oriental Shorthair was ranked 12th Best Cat in the International Division (competing with all other breeds), Best Spotted Oriental Shorthair, Best Oriental Shorthair in the International Region; and 7th Best Oriental Shorthair Worldwide during 2009-2010, awarded by the Oriental Breed Council of CFA.

His cattery was also awarded the “Distinguish Cattery Award (Tier 1) by the CFA in 2015, the only cattery in Singapore that has received this prestigious award, making Singapore proud.

Course Structure

Day 1 to 3

Introduction to cat grooming, feline anatomy, behavior, grooming tools, and safety/sanitation practices.

Day 4 to 8

Basic grooming techniques, including brushing, bathing, nail trimming, ear and eye cleaning, and dental care.

Day 9 to 10

Advanced grooming techniques, breed-specific grooming, styling, handling difficult cats, and identifying skin and coat issues.

Day 11 to 12

Business management, client communication, legal and ethical considerations, review, assessments, and certification.

Universal Cat Association (UCA)

The world’s first pet cat chip registration organization, and is the first international cat organization in China, and has been widely recognized and cooperated by international cat organizations.

UCA is an academic organization of cats with authoritative independent intellectual property rights in China. Its members are mainly senior scholars, public welfare and industry elites from all over the world.

Animal Arts Academy is the only appointed grooming school in Singapore to offer UCA cat care programme.
